Bengaluru: A 36-year-old woman from Nepal committed suicide after recording a video on her mobile phone about her failed marriage, in Eijipura on Sunday night.

The deceased, Ankita, had learnt that her husband Sonam had fallen for another woman whom he met on Facebook. Disappointed, she hanged herself, the police said.

The Vivek Nagar police said that a local resident made a call to the police control room and immediately a team rushed to the spot and found Ankita hanging from the ceiling. The body was sent for postmortem and her relatives were informed.

During the search, the police found her mobile phone and the video recorded just minutes before her suicide. “Based on her video statement, we have registered a case,” the police said.

The probe revealed that Ankita, who came to the city five years ago in search of a job, met Sonam at a workplace. Sonam was her second husband and she had divorced her first husband as he drank and beat her up regularly, the police said. Sonam too had separated from his first wife.

Recently, Ankita came to know that Sonam had come in touch with a woman on Facebook and had proposed to marry her. She had fought with him over the issue, and on Sunday committed suicide, the police said.
