Hyderabad: Man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping minor girl
The girl was shifted to a government hospital in Hyderabad and is undergoing treatment, the police officer said.
Hyderabad: The youth who allegedly raped a one-year-old baby girl was rewarded a life imprisonment by the Nampally court on Monday.
According to the Chilkalguda Police Inspector, A.C. Balagangi Reddy the accused, Deepu Singh, 20, took the girl from the second floor of the house where she was sleeping with her parents, to the ground floor and allegedly raped her at around midnight in September first week.
“Deepu Singh took the girl from her parents who were sleeping and committed rape,” said the police.
The accused was arrested when a case was registered against him on the charge of rape under relevant sections of IPC and provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (PoCSO) Act, based on the complaint.
The girl was shifted to a government hospital in Hyderabad and is undergoing treatment, the police officer said. The parents of the girl are street vendors. The accused was working with them at their house and assisted in making snacks.
Following the trial, a judgement was given by IAMSJ of Nampally by Suneetha Kunchala, stating that the accused was found guilty and was sentenced to undergo rigorous life imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs 2,000, and default in payment would mean simple imprisonment of 3 months, in addition.
