He underscored the need for coordination between transport and police apart from Panchayat Raj, R&B and National Highways for maintaining the roads.
Collector told the NH officials to put up direction boards at the junctions and road turning points for the benefit of people coming from different parts of the country.
Harinarayanan pointed out the need to install caution boards at accident prone junctions. He instructed the transport officials to organise awareness programmes on road safety at schools and colleges.
He has also asked them to take the assistance of NGOs, bus, taxi and lorry owners’ associations to educate the drivers on safe driving methods for a safe journey.
The police wing has been told to carry out special drives to check drunken driving and pay attention to youth who are ignoring speed limit rules and alert their parents about the situation.
