Hyderabad: An ICFAI student’s car hit a bike at Gandipet killing an RMP doctor on the spot on Tuesday. The student who was speeding in his car, lost control at a curve, and rammed into the bike coming from the other side.

Dr M. Kondaiah, 50, who was going to his clinic at Narsingi, suffered serious head injuries and died immediately. Police arrested the student V. Rohit.

At around 9 am, Kondaiah was going to his clinic in Narsingi on his bike, when the speeding car, moving on the wrong side, hit the bike a few meters away from Kokapet junction.

The victim was flung into the air and he hit the road suffering serious head injuries. “It was a direct, head on collision. Due to the curve on the road the car moved to the right hand side of the road where the victim was driving,” said a cop who visited the spot.

Soon after the mishap, three people who were in the car tried to escape from the spot. Meanwhile, people rushed to the spot and caught two students. They later called the police and handed them over.

Narsingi inspector Ramachander Rao said the students were going to college and a student named V. Rohit, 21, was driving the car. “He claimed that his driver was in the car, but we could not find the driver in the area. Rohit has a driver’s licence but it looks like he is inexperienced,” the inspector said.

“He was driving very rashly on the wrong side of the road,” the police inspector added. The inspector said a case has been registered against the student for causing death through negligence.
