Culvert on way to Andhra Pradesh assembly collapses, traffic disrupted

Guntur: A culvert on the Kuragallu-Nidamarru road near Kuragallu collapsed on Wednesday in Amaravati Capital region bringing the movement of traffic to a halt. This is one of the ways to go to AP Assembly and Secretariat from Mangalagiri. Locals alleged that movement of heavy vehicles on the old bridge led to the collapse. Construction material, including sand and cement, was carried through the culvert for building works in Amaravati. The Kuragallu-Nidamarru road is the one of the main road to Assembly and Secretariat and further to SRM University and VIT University. The officials plunged into action and filled the collapsed culvert with gravel and restored the vehicular traffic temporarily.
