Bomb hoax sends Hyderabad police into tizzy
HYDERABAD: A bomb threat call informing of a bomb planted at Santosh Nagar X roads late on Tuesday night sent the police into a tizzy. After thoroughly checking the area, cops were relieved as no explosives were found.
Further on tracing the caller, one Mohd Akbar Khan, the police were shocked to see him calmly browsing his mobile phone at his residence.
The police control room received a call from an unidentified caller informing that there was a bomb planted in Santosh Nagar X roads and it would explode anytime. The information was shared to Hyderabad city police and then to Saidabad police on point of jurisdiction.
Police along with bomb disposal team and dog squad along with special forces swung into action and cordoned off the area to start the search. After searching for a couple of hours, police confirmed that the call could be fake.
Meanwhile, teams who started tracking the caller, traced him to Santosh Nagar. Police found that Akbar Khan was in an inebriated condition when he made the hoax call.
A case was registered against him and he was produced before court, which sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for 18 days.
