Disha app downloaded for 3,84,400 mobile phones in Bapatla district

Vijayawada: “If Disha app is on your mobile phone, it is like having ten police around to protect you.” So stated Bapatla district SP Vakul Jindal here on Thursday.

On instructions from DGP Rajendranath Reddy, the police officers, staff and ward/secretariat women cops of every police station in Bapatla district in their respective villages, conducted an intensive Disha App drive at the bus stands, railway station, junctions, colleges, schools in their respective localities, to spread awareness about women safety and encourage them to download the Disha app and register it on their phones.

The SP said Disha app has been downloaded and registered in a total of 3,84,400 mobile phones in the district so far. Some 16,000 Disha apps downloaded and registered in district in one day on Thursday.

“After registering the app, your details will be kept confidential. When you seek help from the police in an emergency, the information will go to the police control room as soon as the SOS button is pressed. If the SOS button cannot be pressed, shake the phone hard and the message will reach the police. Cops will reach the place immediately and provide the necessary help,” the SP said.

“Besides emergency numbers like 100 and 112, the Disha app contains the details of police stations, hospitals, maternity centers, blood banks, trauma care centers and medical shops near your place. Since the formation of the district till now, Disha app has been downloaded and registered in 3,84,400 mobile phones,” he said.
