Bones not of Kalayil Mathew: Kerala police

Vaikom CI V.S. Navas told DC that the police were continuing to dig up the floor of the building where Mathew was allegedly buried.

Kottayam: The police on Thursday failed to find the mortal remains of  Kalayil Mathew, 44, who was allegedly murdered and buried by Anish, 38 of Vaikom TV Puram at Thalayolaparambu eight years ago. Though some bones were retrieved from an area   15 meters  from the spot where search operations are being conducted for the remains, the police said the parts were not of  humans. Vaikom CI V.S. Navas told DC that the police were continuing to dig up the floor of the building where Mathew was allegedly buried.

The investigations were being supervised by Kottayam district police chief in charge, K.G. Simon, Mr V.S. Navas and Thalayolaparampu SI A. Firoz. Anish had murdered Mathew, a money-lender,  following  financial disputes. Anish’s father Vasu revealed the matter to Mathew’s daughter   Nicey  on the basis of a letter Vasu received from the jail mate of Anish, who was under  remand in a fake currency case.
