Kottayam: A tribal youth of  Adimaly Chattupara settlement colony was strangled  with a cloth  by his uncle following a  dispute over  sharing money for buying liquor on Wednesday night.  The  body  of Sasi Raman, 29, was recovered from a lane in the colony on Thursday morning. The police arrested Rajan, 45, the youth’s uncle,  for the  murder.

The police said the incident occurred at the bus stand where they   planned to purchase  liquor worth Rs 500  and Rajan's share was  Rs 200. However, Sasi demanded Rs 50 more from Rajan.  A scuffle followed and  Rajan strangled Sasi with a  towel. After the crime, Rajan threw Sasi’s body   into the lane next to the bus stop.  The post- mortem held at the Adimaly taluk hospital confirmed  strangulation as the cause of death.  Rajan was charged with murder after the police collected evidence from the colony.
