KOCHI: The High Court on Friday  granted bail to lawyer  C.P. Udayabhanu and two other accused, Chakkara aka Johnny and Renjith, in the case connected with the murder of real estate broker Rajeev of Chalakuddy. Udayabhanu is the seventh accused and   the two others  the  fifth and sixth respectively. According to the police,  the three hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Rajeev and entrusted the job to a four-member gang.    Udayabhanu  was already  granted a three-day interim bail by the HC on Wednesday for attending the funeral rites of his father-in-law.

It was  granted on a surety of Rs 1 lakh and guarantee by two persons for the same amount. The court had  earlier rejected the bail applications of the accused based on the argument of the   prosecution that if granted bail they would influence the investigation process,  including the witnesses. The accused  sought bail on Friday arguing that the investigation in the case has already been over.
