Hyderabad: A gym trainer was arrested by the SR Nagar police on Tuesday for robbing. The 35-year-old robbed Rs 2.5 lakh and 18 tola gold from his mother-in-law. He sprayed chilli powder on his tracks to hoodwink the police. The accused was identified as Harry Anthony Pascal, 35, from Ram Nagar in Musheerabad.
The planned robbery was pulled off on December 31, when the accused entered his in-law’s house late night knowing that his mother-in-law, B. Anthonamma, was alone in the house. Her other son-in-law had gone abroad with his wife and they were coming back on the next day morning. Assuming that it was them, she opened the door and Harry attacked her. “After attacking her, he fled with the ornaments and cash. He later sprinkled chilli powder to keep the police dogs at bay,” said A. Venkateswara Rao, DCP, West Zone.
Harry Anthony married in 2013. For the past one year, he was facing financial problems. “His movements were captured in all the CCTVs in the areas. On Tuesday, he was taken into custody and confessed the crime,” added the official.
The police recovered Rs 1.10 lakh and 12 tola gold from his possession. He will be produced before the court.
