A 47-year-old call taxi driver was found dead inside his car near Selayur on Thursday night.
Chennai: A 47-year-old call taxi driver was found dead inside his car near Selayur on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Mohammed Rafeeq, a native of Aruppukottai. Rafeeq reportedly last contacted his family members on February 13. Meanwhile, on Thursday night, his cab was found parked in a parking lot near Camp road. Passerby who grew suspicious knocked on the windows and since there was no response, Selayur police were informed and a team rushed to the scene and broke open the door to find Rafeeq dead. He was moved to the Chromepet Government Hospital for autopsy. Police suspect him to have died either of asphyxiation or a cardiac arrest.
Police quoted the victim's brother as saying that he last spoke to his family on Tuesday and later when his family members called him, the calls were unanswered. Police said that he last drove a trip to Mappedu. He was working as a driver in a call taxi firm in Tambaram and was staying in Mudichur for the past seven years. Investigations also suggested that he was suffering from health complications.
Police are also investigating if Razak could have taken rest when he turned the air conditioner on and slept in the car which could have led to suffocation that caused his death. A case has been registered and further investigations are on
