Bengaluru: Two women pillion riders die in road accidents

The police said that Lalita and her husband Ram were heading home after work when the accident occurred around 7.30 pm.

Bengaluru: Two women died in different road accidents in KR Puram and Hulimavu traffic police station limits. 

Gowramma (39), a hotel owner, who was riding the pillion on a two-wheeler with a relative, died on the spot after a speeding cement mixer lorry hit their bike on the ITI Gate service road at K.R. Puram on Thursday evening.

The deceased, a resident of Garudachar Palya , along with her relative Rajesh, was heading to a temple when the accident happened.  

According to the police, the duo was riding on the two-wheeler when the lorry crashed into their bike from behind around 4.30 pm. 

Both Gowramma and Rajesh fell off the bike, but, Gowramma sustained severe injuries and died on the spot, while Rajesh escaped with minor injuries, the police said. The police have arrested the lorry driver.

Woman falls off bike, dies

In another accident, a 31-year-old woman riding the pillion along with her husband died after falling off the bike near Singsandra Junction on Hosur Road. The deceased, Lalita, was a resident of Koramangala. 

The police said that Lalita and her husband Ram were heading home after work when the accident occurred around 7.30 pm. 

The couple reached near Singsandra Junction when Ram lost control of the bike and Lalita fell off the vehicle. She sustained severe head injuries and died later at hospital. A case has been registered at the Hulimavu police station.
