BBMP lorry crushes 22-year-old to death
The incident occurred around 5.30 pm when the lorry carrying garbage rammed the bike Suhas was riding.
Bengaluru: A 22-year-old bike rider was crushed to death by a speeding BBMP lorry on Kariyappa Road in Basavanagudi on Sunday evening.The deceased, Suhas Bhat (22), was a first-year BBM student at Jain College. He was also working as a part-timer in a private company.He was a resident of JP Nagar 9th Phase and son of Sudeendra Bhat, a DRDO employee.
The incident occurred around 5.30 pm when the lorry carrying garbage rammed the bike Suhas was riding. The bike got stuck under the lorry and Suhas fell on the road. The moment he fell, the front tyre of the lorry ran over his head. People rushed Suhas to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
The investigating officer told Deccan Chronicle that the BBMP lorry driver was driving the vehicle recklessly.Eyewitnesses said that the incident happened when the driver was overtaking the bike from left. A case has been registered at Basavanagudi traffic police station and lorry driver has been arrested.
