Hyderabad: Two men held with PDS rice

The police seized 40 bags of PDS rice containing 50 kg each.

Hyderabad: The commissioner’s task force south zone team arrested two persons carrying Public Distribution Rice (PDS) rice meant for the poor on Saturday. The arrested men are Peeru Khan, 44, a businessman, and Wajid Ali Khan, 26, an MBA second year student. Police said the duo was found procuring PDS rice from dealers and individuals and selling them in the open market at higher prices.

The police seized 40 bags of PDS rice containing 50 kg each. The seized rice weighs around 20 quintals. The arrested men and the rice were handed over to the Santoshnagar and Kanchanbagh police stations.
