Bank money theft: 3 held in Kodagu

Police team is in search of others involved.

Mangaluru: Three people, who were allegedly involved in the theft of Rs 7.5 crore belonging to Axis Bank, have been arrested from Somwarpet in Kodagu. On May 11, four personnel of SIS Prosegur Holdings Pvt Ltd - a private cash transfer agency, who were transferring Rs 7.5 crore from the Axis Bank office at Yeyyadi in Mangaluru to Koramangala in Bengaluru were reportedly missing with the money.

The abandoned vehicle was found near Hunsur. Police Commissioner M. Chandra Sekhar said that the three who were arrested from the forest in Somwarpet are gunman Poovanna, driver Karibasappa of Chitradurga and Kariyappa. Kariyappa reportedly provided shelter to the accused and also helped in hiding the money. The police team formed by the Mangaluru commissioner along with the Kodagu police arrested the accused. Custodian Parashuram, who too was in the vehicle, is being questioned by the police. He was reportedly assaulted and pressurised by the accused to be part of the crime. Police team is in search of others involved.
