Marredpally police nab woman thief with 7 aliases

The woman has confessed to have committed as many as 17 property offences in different areas.

Guntur police on Thursday arrested five persons, including a woman in three separate cases and recovered one car, gold ornaments and decorative silver and gold ornaments of temples.

Hyderabad: A 36-year-old housewife targeting beauty parlours to decamp with the staff's gold ornaments was nabbed by the Marredpally Police, who recovered Rs 17 Lakh worth property from her.

According to the police, she would tell the beauty parlour staff that she belongs to a particular Christian group which does not allow her to be touched by people wearing gold. She would request them to remove them and keep on the table. After this she would divert their attention and flee with the gold.

Police said the woman, who was identified as Paidicalva Daisy Martin, used to operate under several other names like Daisy, Vandana, Laxmi, Priya, Dayana Joseph and Jhansi. She is a resident of Beeramguda of Patancheru and native of Kadapa District. The arrest was made following a complaint from a beauty parlour stating that she had fled with a gold mangalsutra of 3.5 tolas kept on the table.

“On Thursday, based on a tip off, Marredpally police nabbed her. The woman has confessed to have committed as many as 17 property offences in different areas under the jurisdiction of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates,” said the North Zone DCP, B. Sumathi.
