Hyderabad: The education department has ordered an inquiry into the death of six-year-old Md Ibrahim following an alleged quarrel with another student at the Promising Scholar High School, Toli Chowki. State Commissioner for Protection of Child Rights issued notices to the Hyderabad district education officer and DCP, West Zone, to submit a report. The commission said the “irresponsible attitude” of the school had led to the incident.

“We have asked the mandal education officer to submit a report. We will proceed based on the report,” Hyderabad DEO Somi Reddy said. A school official said they came to know of the incident when cops informed them. “Ibrahim did not complain to any teacher. Police said the incident happened during the morning break between 11.45 and 11.55 am,” said Mr Syed Mahmood Ashraf, managing correspondent, of Promising Scholar High School. He said a check of CCTV images did not show up the incident.

He said Ibrahim had attended the school for five days since the beginning of the academic year. “He was a quick learner and whenever he was present in the class he would finish all his work,” Mr Ashraf said. He said the parents were asked to meet school officials regarding his absence but they had not turned up.
