Bengaluru: Two women, including a garment factory employee, were murdered by their husbands in separate incidents in Raja Rajeshwari Nagar and Subramanyapura police station limits since Monday night.

In the first incident, a 25-year-old garment factory employee was fatally strangulated by her husband at their house in Jaware Gowda in Raja Rajeshwari Nagar early Tuesday.  The deceased has been identified as Chandbi and her husband Basha (29), a painter, has been arrested. The couple hailed from Yadgir district.

Investigations revealed that Basha had picked-up a quarrel with his wife over a trivial row after he returned home around 2 am. During the verbal duel, Chandbi accused Basha of ill-treatment and tried to push him away. In a fit of rage, Basha strangulated her to death.

Hearing Chandbi’s cries for help, the neighbours rushed to their house to check and found her dead. They caught hold of Basha while he was trying to flee and later alerted the police and handed him over to them. Raja Rajeshwari Nagar have registered a case.

Bludgeoned to death
In the second incident a 28-year-old housewife was bludgeoned to death at her house in Chunchagatta in Subramanyapura on Monday night. The deceased, Urmila Devi, was living with her husband Sanjay, a paani puri vendor and two children, who are said to be mentally unstable. The couple hailed from Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, the murder took place on Monday night between 7 pm and 11.30 pm.

Sanjay left the house around 5 pm to sell paani puri. He returned home around 11.30 pm and found the door ajar. As he went inside to check, he found her lying dead in a pool of blood. He alerted the neighbours and informed the Subramanyapura police, who visited the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem.

The police said that when they questioned Sanjay, he gave unsatisfactory answers and has been taken to custody for further questioning. It is suspected that he had murdered Urmila as he had allegedly found out that she was having an affair. Subramnayapura police have begun investigation.
