Honour killing: 20-year-old UP boy shot dead by girl's family

Police have arrested two people in connection with the murder and have launched a manhunt for two absconding suspects.

Muzaffarnagar: In a suspected case of honour killing, a 20-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by family members of the girl he was in relationship with at Vehalna village, police said on Wednesday.

Nazim was shot dead after the girl's family found the two together at the girl's residence last night, they said.

SP (Crime) Pradeep Gupta said a case has been registered against the girl's father Arvind, uncle Praveen and brothers Pradeep and Deepak.

He said Praveen and Pradeep were arrested this morning and the pistol used in the crime was also seized from them.

A manhunt has been launched for absconding Arvind and Deepak while the victim's body has been sent for postmortem, Gupta said.

Tension prevailed in the village following the incident.

Security has been stepped up and police personnel have been deployed to thwart any untoward incident.

The duo were in a relationship for the past several months and the girl's family had objected to it, the SP said.
