Hyderabad: 13 arrested for gambling, cash seized

They arrested 13 punters while they were playing cards. The cops had received a tip-off ahead of the raids.

Police arrested a 28-year-old man, a security guard in connection with the case.

Hyderabad: A team of the Central Zone Task Force conducted a raid and nabbed 13 persons for gambling and seized Rs 1,16,050 from their possession. 

The arrested were identified as Bharath Ruparel, 38; Praveen Kumar Ruparel, 61; Abdul Ali, 57; Barkat Ali Nathwani, 58; Sirjali, 48; Ramzan Allauddin, 47; Rajesh H. Vasanth, 42; Bipin Ruparel, 36; Bhavin Vithlani, 32; Anil Kumar Ruparel, 39; Aravin Kumar Ruparel, 39, and Rithesh Ruparel, 32. 

In the early hours of Wednesday, sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task force, Central Zone Team, raided flat no. 204, on the second floor of Subodaya Apartments, beside Fernandez hospital, Abids. They arrested 13 punters while they were playing cards. The cops had received a tip-off ahead of the raids.

“Bharath Ruparel runs a home appliance shop near Royal Complex in Sultan Bazar. As government is closing down clubs in Hyderabad since the past few months he has been allowing punters to play cards in his flat. He took a commission of Rs 500 per game from each person,” said DCP, commissioner’s task force, B. Limba Reddy.
