Vijayawada: A minor girl approached the Nunna Police with the complaint that her mother had forced into prostitution. The girl’s mother had registered her daughter as missing on June 5. According to ACP Sravani, Gottam Mani (38), a resident of UDA colony in Kandrika, had separated from her husband due to some disputes and then married another man called Mallikarjun. The victim, a 14-year-old girl, was Mani’s daughter from her first husband.

The woman and her second husband had harassed the girl and insisted on her earning money through prostitution. Unable to handle the harassment, the girl ran away from home on June 5 and escaped to Guduru. There she met a man named Lele Krishna and married him. As the girl was a minor, Krishna left her in the care of his parents.

Meanwhile, Gottam Mani refused to assist the police in their efforts to find her. The police found Mani’s behaviour suspicious and launched a probe. The girl showed by at Nunna Police Station on Wednesday and filed a complaint on the basis of which the police arrested Gottam Mani and her husband Mallikarjun.
