Bawazeer Murder: A Tale of Jealousy, Political Ambition and Vendetta
HYDERABAD: Interrogation of the main accused in the murder of former MIM member Sheikh Syed bin Abdul Rahman Bawazeer, alleged history sheeter and whistleblower, has led to the revelation that the masterminds behind the murder were Ahmed Saadi, AIMIM incharge of Jalpally municipality, and his son Abdulla Saadi, AIMIM chairman of Jalpally municipality, the police said.
Two others, identified as Omer Saadi and Saleh Saadi, are on the run.
According to the police, the four sought to eliminate Bawazeer and hired Ahmed bin Hajeb, who, around 11.40 pm on August 10, stabbed Bawazeer to death in his office at Bandlaguda crossroads. Hajeb was promised '13 lakh but not paid any money. Hajeb is the brother-in-law of Omer Saadi.
Police said that Hajeb feared he would be made the scapegoat and named the masterminds. "They never expected Hajeb to reveal their names, but Hajeb is a sharp guy," said Abdulla Bin Taher, a reformed rowdy sheeter.
Investigation into the case revealed past enmity between Bawazeer and the father-son duo of Ahmed and Abdulla Saadi.
Bawazeer reportedly was the first person to help MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi who was shot at by Mohammed Pahelwan's group in front of the Marhaba Hotel in Barkas May 30, 2011. Bawazeer, only 17 then, and a fried took the victim in a vehicle to the Owaisi Hospital even as MIM leaders fled the spot.
Following the incident, Akbaruddin Owaisi reportedly invited Bawazeer to several events, turning him into a popular figure in the area. This led to resentment among other AIMIM leaders, especially Ahmed and Abdulla Saadi who feared for their political careers.
The duo allegedly implicated Bawazeer in multiple incidents of minor girl rape.
In the first such case, in 2017, a man filed a complaint with the Chandrayangutta police about some persons from Barkas raping his minor daughter. "While the FIR did not mention Bawazeer as a suspect, his name was added to the chargesheet," Bawazeer's brother Shaik Omar bin Abdul Bawazeer said.
"Ahmed Saadi and Abdulla Saadi wanted to drag Bawazeer into a criminal case as they were aware that the AIMIM does not entertain activists with criminal history," Abdul Bawazeer said.
The MIM duly expelled Bawazeer, and he developed a grudge against Ahmed and Abdulla Saadi. Inspired by his father, who was a social activist, Bawazeer started highlighting civic and other issues of Barkas and Jalpally on social media platforms and holding the father-son duo responsible.
Frustrated by this, the Saadis reportedly threatened Bawazeer, and they were joined by some BRS activists.
