Bengaluru: Youth brings friend to apartment gym, assaulted
According to the police, the victim had visited the society's gym area along with his friend.
Bengaluru: A mother of a 20-year-old youth has been making rounds of Hulimavu police station requesting them to show the CCTV footage which captured the assault of her son. The incident had taken place last Monday.
According to the police, the victim had visited the society’s gym area along with his friend. As Ramesh (name changed) entered the gym, Gautham, the suspect, was using the gym facilities along with his family.
Soon, an altercation broke out when Gautham objected to the presence of Ramesh’s friend and it later led to an assault.
The entire incident was caught on CCTV camera.
The victim’s mother told Deccan Chronicle, “At the time of the incident, I wasn’t home. I learnt about my son being assaulted by one Gautham only after I returned from work and saw the commotion.”
“Ramesh’s friend had visited him on Monday evening. They decided to use the gym. While Ramesh was using the gym facility, his friend was sitting there. Gautham, who was present at the gym, took note of Ramesh’s friend and asked him to leave. My son told Gautham politely that he isn’t using the gym facility. Enraged over the response, Gautham threatened my son with a dumbbell.”
The complainant said that after her son left the gym and reached the common area’s entrance, Gautham again picked up a quarrel and assaulted him. He hurled blows and kicked Ramesh.
Police said that on hearing noises, other flat residents also came in, which led to the commotion.
By that time, the victim’s mother also arrived and learnt about the incident, she approached the police station.
“We had called the two parties to the police station. The suspect then tendered an apology and the matter was resolved,” said a police official privy to the investigation.
Despite CCTV cameras capturing the assault by Gautham, the mother of the victim alleged she was being harassed by the members of the residential building.
