Chhattisgarh: BJP leader's son is accused of gangrape

The victim was abducted by the three accused from her parents' house on October 11.

Bhopal: Three youths including the son of a local BJP leader allegedly tortured and then gangraped a 36-year-old married woman in a village in Chhattisgarh, the police said on Sunday.

The incident which took place in the village of Pirada under east Chhattisgarh district of Mahasamund on the night of October 11 came to light on Sunday following arrest of two of the three accused.

The third accused, said to be mastermind of the heinous crime, was still absconding, police said. “The incident took place when the victim arrived at her paternal place during Dussehra festival”, SHO of Basna police station Naresh Yadav said.

The three accused, identified as Devendra Choudhury (23), Farid Ali (25) and Prince Saluja (23), abducted the victim from her parents’ house in the village, then bundled her out in their car  and took her to a secluded place where she was gangraped.

The assailants allegedly thrashed her badly and then inserted a rod in her private parts when she resisted their attempt to rape her, the victim alleged and added that she was gangraped and then dumped.

The accused had allegedly taken pictures of her rape in their cell phone camera and threatened to upload them in social media sites if she took the matter with the police. She lodged the FIR in Basna police station on October 13. Two accused, Devendra and Farid, were arrested and their car was seized.
