Odisha: Mentally unstable elderly man throws stone at judge in courtroom

Bhubaneshwar: An elderly man was on Monday arrested for hurling a stone inside a courtroom in Odisha’s Ganjam district. The Judge present at the Chhatrapur court had a close shave in the incident. However, a computer has been damaged in the incident, sources said.

The accused was identified as Subhas Chandra Sahoo of Bhanjanagar area. Sources said that Sahoo was present inside the courtroom where a hearing of a case was going on. All of a sudden, Sahoo took out a stone from his bag and allegedly hurled it towards the Judge.

Luckily, the Judge escaped unhurt in the incident. The entire incident occurred at noon today.

Sahoo reportedly had brought several stones inside the bag. Soon after he threw the stone, the lawyers and others present in the courtroom overpowered him and handed him over to the local police. Sources said that Sahoo is mentally unstable and more details can be ascertained after a medical check-up. The exact reason behind Sahoo throwing the stone is unclear.

Meanwhile, the police detained Sahoo and further investigation was underway.
