13 apprehended for cattle smuggling at Rachakonda

Suspects stole cattle from cattle sheds at unguarded secluded places and transported them in container vehicles.

Hyderabad: Rachakonda police busted an illegal cattle smuggling racket who stole cattle from different parts of the city and slaughtered them at two slaughter houses owned by the kingpin of the racket. Police on Saturday arrested 13 members of the gang, while the kingpin, identified as Captain Aziz Qureshi, and the receiver of the stolen animals, Mohammed Hussain, are still at large.

On Saturday, during vehicle checking at Ibrahimpatnam, police intercepted the accused and questioned about the cattle being transported. When they failed to answer, they were taken to the police station. During inquiry, the arrested confessed that they were involved in stealing cattle from different places under the Rachakonda commissionerate limits. 

Police said that the suspects stole cattle from cattle sheds at unguarded secluded places and transported them in container vehicles, DCMs and modified SUVs. The kingpin Aziz Qureshi alias Captain Baba is running two Kabelas (slaughter houses) at Bandlaguda and Baba Nagar. After planning to steal cattle, he organised a gang to execute his plan. Police also recovered Rs 4 lakh, one cow and four vehicles from their possession. The accused were handed over to Ibrahimpatnam police for further inquiry.
