Mediaperson cheats pilgrims in Tirupati

A media correspondent for a news channel cheated them and took Rs 21,000 for darshan and gave them Rs 300 special entry darshan tickets.

Tirupati: TTD vigilance filed a report on a media correspondent at II-town police station in Tirumala on Saturday. TTD vigilance received a complaint from a pilgrim Mr Satish a few days ago, that he was cheated in Tirumala. On enquiry they found out that Gopi, a media correspondent for a news channel cheated them and took Rs 21,000 for darshan and gave them Rs 300 special entry darshan tickets.

Apart from Darshan he has collected more than Rs 20,000 for room in Sannidhanam guest house, which has an actual tariff of Rs 7,100. The vigilance wing officials said that a report was filed in Tirumala two town police Station along with the evidences like CCTV footages, Verification of bank accounts etc. He had also gained Rs 14,000 earlier by collecting Rs 1,000 from each pilgrim in the name of tickets at Tirumala Bus Stand. The vigilance officials informed that a criminal action will be taken against him by the police.
