TS Stands Top in Country in Stolen Mobile Recovery

Hyderabad: The Telangana state police said that it topped the country in the percentage of mobile devices recovered using the Central Equipment Identity Regsitry (CEIR) portal, handing over 15,024 devices to their owners.

The CEIR portal that was developed by the Union department of telecommunications (DoT) to curb the menace of mobile theft and counterfeit mobile devices, said Mahesh Bhagwat, Addl. DGP, CID.

Bhagwat said the devices were recovered over 239 days; the last 1,000 were recovered in eight days. This translated into 33.71 per cent recovery of lost or stolen mobile devices. DGP Ravi Gupta on Saturday congratulated Bhagwat and his team for the feat.

The state was followed by Karnataka (32.09 per cent) and Andhra Pradesh (30.01 per cent).
