Case against ‘unknown’ for threat to CM’s life

TIRUPATI: The Tirupati east division police have registered a case of criminal intimidation against an unknown person who posted life- threatening and defamatory material against Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy on the social media.
Acting on word from Tirupati MP Maddila Gurumurthy, state Jagan Seva Dal vice-president Mylam Srikanth lodged a complaint with the police against a twitter user with ID as Kannabhai, for posting intimidating and abusive content against the chief minister.
The as-yet-unidentified person has been booked under various sections of IPC, including 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 505 (2) (statements conducing to public mischief), 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) and Section 66 r/w 43 of the IT Act.
The Twitter user held out an explicit threat to assassinate the CM and used abusive language in his other tweets. The police, along with the cybercrime cops, started an investigation to trace the culprit.
