Hyderabad lawyer nabbed for vulgar texts
The victim then complained to SHE teams and the police arrested him.
Hyderabad: A 38-year-old advocate from the city who harassed a New Delhi-based woman by sending her vulgar messages was arrested by the SHE team on Wednesday.
The woman had come to Hyderabad to attend IIFA Utsav three weeks ago and the lawyer M. Abhishek collected her visiting card. At the IIFA event in Gachi-bowli, the lawyer, Abhishek, and his friend introduced themselves as journalists and tried to talk to the victim, police said.
“When she did not respond they collected her business card from her friends and started sending her text messages asking her to be his friend,” said additional commissioner of police Swati Lakra.
“Though the woman never responded he continued to text her and later started sending vulgar messages,” the officer added. The woman informed her friends who warned the lawyer. However, he did not stop. “Abhishek threatened to land up at her place if she did not accept his friendship,” Ms Lakra said.
The victim then complained to SHE teams and the police arrested him. He was handed over to the cyber crimes police station at the CCS, Hyderabad, and a case under Section 354 D and 67-A of the IT Act was registered against him. He was produced in court on Wednesday.
