Kozhikode: The family of Jishnu Pranoy, the student who allegedly committed suicide, alleges that the public prosecutor colluded with the accused in getting interim bail for Pambadi Nehru college group chairman P. Krishnadas. They will repeat the demand to appoint advocate CP Udayabhanu as a special prosecutor for the case. The family already approached Mr Udayabhanu and he expressed his willingness to help, said Jishnu’s uncle Sreejith K.K. He added that though the investigating team had informed the details of the case to public prosecutor Sreedharan Nair, he did not present key facts to prevent Mr Krishnadas getting bail.

“Krishnadas’ lawyer argued on February 16 in the High Court that he should be permitted to attend the college and arrest should be avoided, since the district collectors of Palakkad and Thrissur asked for his presence in the college, considering the future of the thousands of students, who would be affected due to closure. However, the requests were made by the collectors prior to their meeting on February 15. Krishnadas’s brother Krishnakumar was given the charge.

The issue of letting Krishnadas inside the campus was solved when his brother was made to replace him. So, they misled the court on February 16, one day after the proposed meeting was over,” the relative said. He added that the collector had agreed to nearly 16 of the demands of the protesting students that came up at the talks, including banning Krishnadas from entering the campus.
