Babu Athipozhiyil faces charges of misusing office, forgery, and harming the headmistress's reputation.
Alappuzha: Police has booked a clerk at St Thomas High School for trying to take Rs 25 lakh loan from Vijaya Bank using forged documents. Sub-inspector Shiva Kumar said headmistress Mary Margaret complained against Babu Athipozhiyil on April 26.
He faces charges of misusing office, forgery, and harming the headmistress's reputation. Mr Athipozhiyil produced a salary slip and bank officials cross-checked with the headmistress on her signature.
She immediately alerted the police. "We are examining documents he produced and if he was involved in any other such activities," the North SI said. Meanwhile, the suspect refuted all charges saying it's an old issue unfolded out of the teacher’s misunderstanding.
‘We have settled all issues. No case exists," he told DC. The headmistress of the Thumpoly school meanwhile refused to divulge details. Sources said he had tried to influence the police and the headmistress using political patronage.
"It was the result of influence the police remains inactive after registering an FIR weeks ago," one of them said. "He wanted a loan for buying a house in Arattuvazhi after paying an advance."
Bank authorities said they didn’t know anything about the case. "We allocated no loan," an official said.
