Hyderabad: Rachakonda police have arrested a six-member gang which had kidnapped Thadoju Saidachary, a former employee of actress-turned-politician Vijayashanti. The kingpin of the gang is identified as Konakalla Suresh facing a life term.

Police said that around five months ago, Ms Yasodamma and her sister-in-law Ms Anitha, who had lent Suresh money during the general elections, approached him to pressurise Mr Saidachary to pay the money he owed to them. After this, Mr Suresh and his associates planned to kidnap Mr Saidachary and waited for the right opportunity.

Bhongir Deputy Commission of police E. Ramachandra Reddy said that Mr Saidachary used to work at the farmhouse of Ms Yashodamma on the outskirts of Anajpur village in Bhongir mandal. Earlier he used to work for actress-turned-politician Vijayashanti. Using  her name, he took Rs 70 lakh from Yashodamma and Anitha promising them a high rate of interests. He returned about half of the amount and women were pressurising him to pay the rest.

However, when he refused to repay, they approached Mr Suresh. A week ago, when he was at the farmhouse Suresh and his gang kidnapped him and demanded Rs 50 lakh ransom for his release.

Investigation has revealed that Suresh is involved in five cases, including a murder 1998 in which he was awarded life imprisonment. All arrested persons have been sent to remand.

During the life term, he came out on parole and committed a robbery for which he was convicted again. He was acquitted in other three cases.

Tadoju Nagaraju from Hyderabad, who is also a member of the gang and is now absconding, is also involved in extortion cases in both Telugu states.
