Bengaluru: Rowdy on the run surrenders
Attacked a flight attendant for rejecting his proposal.
Bengaluru: A rowdy, who had few days ago slashed a flight attendant's cheek after she repeatedly refused his marriage proposals, surrendered before the police early Friday.
The rowdy, Ajay Kumar alias Jockey (30), a resident of Jalahalli, was on the run after assaulting the 27-year-old flight attendant on May 12.
According to police, Kumar was stalking the victim for months and many times he proposed to marry her, but she rejected it.
Kumar first met the victim a few years ago through her older sister and became friends. A few months ago Kumar proposed the victim but she turned it down. However, Kumar continued to stalk her.
The police said the victim had earlier told her parents about Kumar’s harassment. They had filed a complaint with the Jalahalli police.
On May 12 at around 4:30 pm, while the victim was returning from work in a cab, Kumar forced the cab driver to stop.
He then entered into the vehicle and sat beside the victim. He demanded that she accept his proposal. When she refused, he slashed her cheek with a knife and punched her in the stomach before fleeing.
The driver of the cab rushed the victim to a private hospital where she underwent treatment. Later she filed a complaint with the Kodigehalli police, who formed teams to nab Kumar.
However on Friday Kumar surrendered before Yashvanthpur police. They have booked him for assault with a deadly weapon, sexual harassment and criminal intimidation. He was later remanded in judicial custody.
The police found that there were several criminal cases registered against Kumar.
