Six persons arrested for assaulting two minor girls in Jangaon

Warangal: Palakurthy police arrested a house owner and his five other family members for assaulting two minor girls by tying them to a tree and applying chilli powder on their eyes, suspecting that they had stolen money from his house. The incident occurred in Chennur village of Jangaon district's Palakurthy mandal.

According to the police, the accused, P. Madhukar Rao, 45, a resident of Chennur village, found that '1.35 lakh cash kept in an almirah had gone missing from his home. Suspecting two minor girls (one of whom was his own brother's daughter), Madhukar and his family members tied the two girls to a tree and thrashed them by applying chilli powder on their eyes. The incident went viral on social media platforms.

After learning about the harassment of two young girls, police officers conducted an investigation and filed a case against Madhukar and five other members of his family and arrested them.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, ASI T. Srikanth stated that when questioned about the money theft at Madhukar's house, the two minor girls admitted that they had stolen the money and hidden it in various locations around the village and in the fields so that they could use it later. When police officers accompanied by girls examined the locations where they claimed to have concealed the money, they found none, he continued.
