HASSAN: In a startling revelation, Ms Chanchala, wife of  former minister and JD(S) MLA  H.K. Kumaraswamy, who is also a Zilla Panchayat member, on Monday claimed that an emissary of the BJP, Uday Gowda met her at her residence in Dollars Colony in Bengaluru a couple of days back and requested her to convince her husband to resign from the JD(S) and join the BJP.

Mr H.K. Kumaraswamy represents Sakleshpur, a reserved assembly seat for Scheduled Castes in Hassan. In a chat with media persons here, Ms Chanchala recalled Uday Gowda asking her why her husband was not made a minister in the coalition government though he had won as MLA six times. He also claimed that the JD(S)-Congress coalition government was on the verge of collapse and wanted Ms Chanchala to impress on her husband the need to join the BJP quitting the JD(S).

Uday Gowda, according to Ms Chanchala, assured to take care of the expenses of Kumaraswamy in his next election and also promised him a ministerial berth in the BJP government if it was formed. Ms Chanchala said she refused the offer and added that though Mr Kumaraswamy had received such offers to join the BJP in the past, he had resisted all such temptations and had remained loyal to the JD(S).
