Hyderabad: Couple ends life after chat

Hyderabad: Apparently depressed over her boyfriend’s death, a 19-year-old girl from Tanguturu village in Shankarpally immolated herself in her home on Saturday night. The two deaths took place within half-an-hour of a telephone conversation the two had about their relationship. The mobile phones of both have been sent to the cyber lab at the Cyberabad police commissionerate for analysis, said the police.
The youngsters identified as Lavanya, 19, and Yellesh were related and lived opposite each other.
According to the Cyberabad police, they were in love for the last one-and-a-half years. Yellesh worked as a security guard in the city, while Lavanya who worked at a private hospital recently quit her job and was staying at home.
“On Sunday Yellesh came to the village. In the evening, he and Lavanya spoke to him over the phone. While the conversation was on, Yellesh’s friend Srikanth got suspicious as his friend was feeling upset as he was talking, and asked him if he could deal with the problem. Yellesh who was drunk by then, went home and told his parents that he was going out and would never come back home,” said Chevella ACP T. Swamy.
The ACP said that Yellesh took the bike and went out into a field and hung himself from a tree. His elder brother saw him hanging and informed his parents. Lavanya, who lives in the house opposite Yellesh’s, heard of the hanging and doused herself in kerosene and set herself alight.
“Parents of the deceased persons are still unsure about the reasons that forced them to take the extreme step. Their parents were not even aware of Lavanya and Yellesh’s relationship. Prima facie, it is understood that the youngsters had a heated conversation. They have been sent to the cyber lab for analysis, to extract their conversations to find the reasons for suicides,” said the ACP.
