Dalit women stage a dharna in front of SP office

Adilabad: Dalit women of Kanjar village in Dilawarpur mandal on Monday staged a dharna in front of the office of the Superintendent of police in Nirmal town demanding the police officials take action against the person who abused them by taking their caste name while playing Bathukamma to Ambedkar song at the bus stand on October 9. The Dalit women submitted a memorandum to SP Ch. Praveen Kumar.

Dalit women said one Raja Shekar of the same village, who was in an inebriated condition, abused them while playing Bathukamma and thrashed the owner of the DJ for playing an Ambedkar song on the occasion.

They also demanded the police officials take action against the SI of Dilawarpur for not taking any action against the person who abused them even after lodging a complaint with the local police.
