Bengaluru: Horrific turn to woman's night out
She was dragged out of lounge bar on Brigade Road by two men, forced into car, abandoned near Banaswadi.
Bengaluru: Frequent incidents of atrocities against women and their safety continue to worry Bengalureans, as another woman, who is from the Northeast, complained to the police that she was molested by two men when she went to a lounge bar on Brigade Road on the night of January 13. The complaint surfaced after the police arrested the two accused on Wednesday.
The police picked up the accused based on the CCTV footage and the complaint filed by the victim. The arrested have been identified as Ricky alias Thimmanna Uttappa, 34, a resident of Richmond Town and a software engineer, and a Yemen national Ayub Ali, 26, a resident of OMBR Layout. Ayub is also an employee with a software company in the city.
The incident occurred on the night of January 13 when the victim was inebriated. According to the complainant, she had gone to a party at Fusion Lounge Bar on Brigade Road. The two accused took her out of the bar forcibly, put her into their car and later abandoned her at Banasawadi, the complaint stated.
The CCTV footage shows the victim, who seems drunk, being forcibly taken out of the pub.
Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Hemanth Nimbalkar said that a molestation case was registered against the duo on Sunday based on the complaint filed by the victim and arrested the duo on Wednesday.
The victim hails from Arunachal Pradesh and stays in JP Nagar. She came in contact with the accused six months ago while she was working at a private company.
Sources said that she was barely conscious when the accused dragged her out of the pub and dropped her at Banasawadi, where she was staying before she moved to JP Nagar. The accused later fled the scene.
“A woman saw the victim lying on the road and took her home. When the victim gained consciousness, she approached the women’s police station and filed a complaint stating that she was misused by the accused when she was unconscious that night,” the sources said.
The case was transferred to the Banasawadi police, who managed to arrest the two accused.
The police identified the two accused from the CCTV footage at the pub and arrested them. The duo admitted before the police that they took the girl out of Fusion Lounge Bar and dropped her at Kammanahalli that night. They sped after she started shouting. The car that belongs to Uttappa has been seized. The accused persons were produced before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
Woman alleges molestation by group of men
A woman has alleged molestation by a group of men in Rajendranagar. The incident occurred on January 15. Around 11.30 pm that day, the woman and her husband were walking on the road when they were accosted by a group of men from West Bengal. The men allegedly picked up a fight with her husband which resulted in a scuffle. The woman has alleged that the gang molested her after beating up her husband. Following the complaint, the Adugodi police filed a case under IPC Section 354 and arrested three people in connection with the incident.
Rowdies paraded in Banaswadi
Following recent cases of molestation in Banaswadi, the jurisdictional police paraded rowdies in the area. Around 70 rowdies were paraded and warned not to indulge in such activities by the police.
