Hyderabad: The city traffic police have begun dashing off letters to the human resource departments of companies whose employees are caught driving drunk.
The first letter was addressed to a software company in Gachibowli whose employees were sentenced to four days of imprisonment.
“It is to inform that one of your employees (name withheld) was caught while driving under the influence of alcohol. The person underwent counseling at the Traffic Training Institute and attended the court,” says one such letter.
“The legal permissible blood alcohol content for driving a vehicle in India is only 30 mg/100 ml,” said additional commissioner of police, traffic, Anil Kumar.
“Many road accidents take place because people drive under influence of alcohol. It not only puts the concerned person at risk but also employees need to be ideally following traffic rules and responsible citizens leading the way in bringing discipline on the roads. Hence it is requested to urge all employees to follow traffic rules without fail and cooperate with the traffic police to ensure safety of all road users,” Mr Kumar said.
