Rice mill raided by Rachakonda police, PDS goods seized

The same rice was packed in different bags and supplied to the market for higher price as quality rice.

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police raided a rice mill at Keesara and seized huge quantities of PDS rice meant for illegal transportation. 

Police arrested the mill owner Y. Sudershan and five others who were involved in the racket. Sudershan was earlier involved in illegal transportation and was arrested in six cases and detained under the PD Act in the past also, said police.

Based on information, police raided the Datta Sai Rice Mill located at Keesara. Sudershan had in the past too engaged in illegal trading of PDS rice that he procured from agents and other sources. The same rice was packed in different bags and supplied to the market for higher price as quality rice.

Police seized rice packed in bags, vehicles used for transporting the rice, rejected rice stocks at the mill in the presence of officials from Civil supplies department, all worth more than Rs 29 lakh. The arrested persons and the seized material were handed over to Keesara Police station for further inquiry.
