Tamil Nadu native held for sexual assault of girl in Perumbavoor

Kochi: A Tamil Nadu native was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year old girl in Perumbavoor. The accused Chandana Kumar, a native of Marthandam in Tamil Nadu, was held from Thirunelveli.

According to police, the incident happened on March 31 when the girl, a native of Assam, along with her brother had gone to the house of Kumar. The accused, however, managed to keep the brother away from the house by asking the boy to go for fishing in a nearby canal and sexually abused the girl.

“A case was taken against him with charges of rape and those under relevant sections of the Pocso Act based on the compliant,” police said.

The girl  was staying with her aunt when the incident happened. She revealed the ordeal to her aunt who in-turn informed her parents.
