Hyderabad: Exemption of class II student likely in Ibrahim case
The cops have written to the education department to take action against the school.
Hyderabad: Police have said that since the Class II boy responsible for Mohammed Ibrahim’s death is below 12, he can be exempted under Section 83. The cops have written to the education department to take action against the school.
Section 83 says the deed of a child above seven and below 12 is not an offence. The boy did not even know what death meant when he was questioned by cops.
On speaking to other students, the police found that Ibrahim and the boy had fought with each other after Ibrahim passed comments on the other boy’s running nose. None of the students intervened or tried to stop them.
When police asked the boy about the incident, he admitted beating Ibrahim, but asked the police what death meant (mar gaya matlab kya hai?).
Police said that the culprit was unaware of what he did. “As he is below 12 he can be exempted under Section 83. But we are collecting evidence,” a senior police officer from West Zone said, adding that they cannot take action on the school and has written to the Education Department to act in this regard.
"Though the school is not directly responsible, there was no staff to monitor the students during the break. The Education Department has to take a call on this and review the permission to the school," he said.
While Ibrahim’s parents continued to maintain that the school’s negligence lead to the loss, the school was shut on Monday to condole Ibrahim’s death. Mohammed Ibrahim a Class I student of the school died after he was kicked by a Class II boy in his groin
