Sister Amala murder trial yet to begin

The police which probed the murder that happened on September 17, 2015, filed the chargesheet in December.

KOTTAYAM: The trial in the murder case of Sister Amala, 69, of  Lisiuex convent at Pala, is yet to begin though seven months have passed since the police  filed the chargesheet.   The additional sessions court at Pala,  which has to conduct the trial,  is yet to notify the case. The police which probed  the murder that  happened on September 17, 2015,  filed the chargesheet  in December.  Court  sources said that the case was   still pending.

“The case is yet to be taken up for the trial. We filed the chargesheet  in  December. Hopefully, the trial will begin within a few months”, said Pala DySP D.S. Suneesh Babu, who investigated the case. Satheesh Babu, 38,  the lone accused in the case, is in judicial custody.   Babu, a native of Mannarkad in Palakkad,  after committing the crime  went to Haridwar. 

He was nabbed by the police from a guest house at Haridwar. According to the police, he suffered from personality disorders and was also accused of murdering Sister Jose Maria of    Chettuthodu SH convent.  The police also slapped the charge of raping  Sister Amala on  him. There are 86 witnesses in the case and the police have collected scientific evidence comprising  finger prints and technical.
