Tirupati: Gang of kidnappers nabbed, couple rescued
The son-in-law of the elderly couple had taken money from the kidnappers misguiding them saying his in-laws had hidden away a treasure.
Tirupati: Chittoor district on Tuesday police nabbed a 10-member gang that had abducted an elderly couple in the intervening night of June 27 and 28 in connection with their search for hidden treasures. Molakala Cheruvu inspector Rushi Keshav said that the police had earlier in the day taken four members of the gang into custody on suspicion while checking vehicles near Valasapalli cross.
After interrogating them, the police confirmed that they were the members of the gang that had abducted the elderly couple in Madanapalli. Following their disclosure, the police raided Gudipala forest area and arrested the remaining six members of the gang and managed to rescue the elderly couple from them. Radhakrishna and Kalavati, the victims, belonging to Madanapalli were abducted by the gang following which their daughter who lives in Hyderabad approached Chittoor SP Rajasekhar Babu and lodged the complaint.
The search operations have continued for over two weeks.
According to police, a son-in-law of the elderly couple had taken money from the kidnappers misguiding them saying the hidden treasures were with his in-laws. The police are in search of the son-in-law. The police seized four cars, an auto and a toy gun from the gang.
