Murder for beer: 4 stab youth to death in Meerpet, accused held

 Hyderabad: A 22-year-old degree student was allegedly murdered after he refused to part with his beer bottles. The incident occurred in the wee hours of Monday when the victim, Manupati Sai Varaprasad and his friend Netala Sai Yadav, were intercepted by four persons near Jillelaguda in Meerpet.

The accused identified as Palle Nitesh Goud, Pavan, Santosh Yadav and Kiran Goud were arrested, the police said on Tuesday.

One of accused persons stopped Varaprasad and Netala near Swagath Grand Hotel and asked him to hand over the beer bottles and leave. When Varaprasad refused to give the bottles, a heated argument ensued between the duo and the accused. The altercation took a nasty turn, which ended with the accused stabbing Varaprasad with sharp weapons. After the incident, they fled the spot.

Passersby noticing Varaprasad profusely bleeding shifted him to R.K. Hospital in Meerpet where doctors refused to admit him. He was then rushed to Owaisi hospital in Santoshnagar where he succumbed to his bleeding injuries while undergoing treatment on Tuesday, Meerpet police said.

A case has been registered under section 302 (Murder) of the IPC and reportedly taken the four into custody and recovered the weapons used in the crime, police said.

Varaprasad , a final year student, resident of Saroornagar and Netala were both college mates and were going to the latter’s house in Sarvodaya colony when they were attacked.

Police shifted the body to Gandhi hospital mortuary for postmortem. Further probe is on.
