Trimulgherry SHO booked on graft charge
HYDERABAD: The ACB registered a case against B. Sravan Kumar, SHO Trimulgherry for demanding a bribe from a professional shooter for renewing the latter’s weapon licence.
ACB sleuths on Tuesday conducted a search and served a notice on Sravan under Section 41A of the CrPC.
The victim, a shooter from Secunderabad had a licensed DBBL weapon whose licence expired in February 2023. He applied for licence renewal with the DCP (North).
DCP forwarded the application to Sravan to enquire and file his remarks and send it back in a week’s time, but he has been delaying processing the file.
During one of his recent visits to the police station, Sravan allegedly demanded Rs 30,000 for processing it. After negotiation, he agreed to Rs 20,000. The victim video-recorded the entire conversation on his mobile.
He complained to the ACB along with this recording. ACB enquired into the matter, registered a case against Sravan Kumar and initiated proceedings against him. During the search, they also seized CCTV footage from the dates, on which the victim claimed to have visited the police station. Further investigation is in process, ACB officials said.
