Cops in Hyderabad seize 16 tonnes PDS rice, arrest 2

They were loading the rice at the garage of Akber Travels in Bahadurpura, when the South Zone Task Force team, raided the garage.

Hyderabad: Task Force officials arrested one Mohammed Arif, 52, and his son Mohammed Imran, 32, and seized their lorry containing 16 tonnes of rice meant for the public distribution system, on Monday. 

They were loading the rice at the garage of Akber Travels in Bahadurpura, when the South Zone Task Force team, raided the garage.  

Additional DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force, C. Shashidhar Raju said Arif was habituated to procuring PDS rice and selling it at higher prices.
