Andhra Pradesh: Teacher beats boy for arrogant answer

Visakhapatnam: In yet another incident of corporal punishment, a Class VI student of a private school was allegedly beaten by a teacher at Gajuwaka ehre on Wednesday.The parents have not lodged a police complaint after allegedly compromising with the management.
Sources said that the teacher had received a complaint from a student that someone has stolen his book. During inquiry, the teacher had questioned a student, identified as R.M. Kumar, in the Class. Upset with his allegedly “arrogant” reply, the teacher beat Kumar, causing injuries on his face.
The student complained to his parents and relatives, who staged a protest in front of the school. The relatives claimed that the family had lodged a police complaint but remained quiet following negotiations between the parents of the boy and school management. Asked about the incident. district education officer G. Nagamani said she had asked the mandal education officer of Pendurthi to hold an inquiry into the incident. Action would be taken based on the MEO's report, she said.
